Meet Our Brain Changer, Jaime Armstrong
I don’t believe in coping skills
I’m so glad we got that out of the way
Coping skills sends a message to our brain that we have to live with or manage the experience of something. Our brain is constantly changing so this concept of coping skills is outdated. I don’t believe in coping skills because we know so much more now about our brain than we used to. We know now that we can actually change our brain! So why send a message to tolerate or live with the experience of something when we know now that we can clear it? Knowing this, would you rather manage negative emotions or be free of them?
Using a brain-based approach like Emotional Pain Intervention® and transformational therapy such as Rapid Resolution Therapy®, provides the opportunity for you to stress proof your brain! With all my clients I intend for them to be free of what’s been troubling and to instead experience life in an optimized and more beneficial way. That’s brain science! We cannot change outside influences but we can definitely change the response so it’s working in a more beneficial way. Are you ready to make a shift happen? Because I am!
Credentials
Born in Canada and raised in the States, I was a collegiate level swimmer at Clark University and studied psychology, law and society, and human services as I obtained my Bachelors of Arts degree. I then furthered my education and received a Masters of Arts degree in Counsellor Education, with a focus on mental health, from the University of South Florida. Through more than 15 years in the field I have worked with a lifespan of ages and supervised in various settings such as day treatment, outpatient, residential, youth justice, schools, in home community services, and private practice.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counsellor (inactive status) in the state of Florida and am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I specialize in brain-based and transformational therapy approaches with extensive training in Emotional Pain Intervention®, Rapid Resolution Therapy®, and Brain-Based Clinical Hypnosis. My practice was identified as a 2019 Midland’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best Hypnosis and the 2020 Wasaga Beach Reader’s Choice Award for Best Individual and Family Counselling.
In addition to my clinical skills and experience, I value giving back to the community and demonstrating strong female leadership which has led to becoming President of the Midland & District Business Women’s Association and a business mentor with the Small Business Centre of Barrie, Simcoe County, and Orillia in their Starter Company Plus and Summer Company programs.
When not in session or volunteering, I am often found cheering on the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during football season, skiing and doing all things winter as the snow comes, and enjoying the views of lakes and beaches in our beautiful Simcoe and Muskoka region.
