My go-to supplement - magnesium

This week I want to highlight one of my favourite minerals, magnesium. Why is it one of my favourites? Simply, because it can be a gentle supplement that can support people’s health in a variety of ways. There are also great food sources of magnesium to consider that are easy to get!

What are the benefits of magnesium?

  • Support muscles, bones, tissue and nerves
  • Support digestive health
  • Support healthy energy levels
  • Help manage blood pressure
  • And more!

Do I need more magnesium?

This is going to look different for everyone, but you may need to increase your intake of magnesium-rich foods or take a supplement if you experience the following:

  • Muscle pain and weakness
  • Have issues sleeping
  • Migraines
  • High blood pressure
  • Anxiety
  • PMS symptoms
  • Constipation
  • Among others

Now, it’s important to note that there are different types of magnesium supplements, so before you go off and buy one, make sure you speak to a professional to make sure you are taking the right one.

  • Magnesium bis-glycinate
  • Magnesium chloride
  • Magnesium chelate
  • Magnesium citrate
  • Magnesium oxide
  • And others!

Food sources of magnesium:

  • Some dark leafy greens like spinach and swiss chard
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Avocado
  • Black beans
  • Dark chocolate
  • Potatoes
  • Bananas
  • and more!
